Unity Through Collaborative Service
This workshop offers congregations a means to experience unity through collaborative service to people in need in their community using the popular and effective model known as Operation Inasmuch. This model is begin used by congregations of various denominations and races in 17 states to respond to the needs of the poor and marginalized in their neighborhoods and, simultaneously, see some of the barriers between their churches melt away.

As teacher and student, Ed Chasteen and Vernon Howard in the 1980's at William Jewell College became other people for a semester. Now Ed, as Founder and President of HateBusters, and Vernon, as Pastor of Kansas City's Second Baptist Church, lead their folk to a larger view of social justice. We draw upon the lives of Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcom X comparatively discussing how their social, economic, and educational realities shaped their theologies and thus their approaches to spirituality and social justice.
